Nestled on tiny Likoma Island in Lake Malawi, St Peter’s Cathedral rises like a fairy-tale fortress. Built in Gothic Revival style from local granite between 1903 and 1911, this massive cathedral spans 17,600 sq ft—making it the third-largest in Central Africa. Once the heart of the Diocese of Nyasaland, it now serves as the seat of the Diocese of Northern Malawi—and remains a breathtaking symbol of faith, architecture, and history amid the African skies.
